Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development across one or more programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript. You possess at least 3 years of experience in building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems, and have held a technical leadership role for 3 years. Additionally, you have 2 years of experience in people management or team leadership, showcasing your ability to guide and develop engineers effectively.

Your educational background may include a Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, which complements your extensive experience. You thrive in complex, matrixed organizations and understand the nuances of managing projects and teams across various functions. You are not only technically proficient but also excel in optimizing code and ensuring your team adheres to best practices in software development.

Desirable

You have a strong interest in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and distributed computing. Your experience in these fields will help you contribute to Google's ambitious projects and initiatives.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineering Manager II, you will lead a team of engineers, guiding them in their technical endeavors while also managing project goals and contributing to product strategy.
