Engineering Manager, Data Platform

Our Data Platform team provides centralized data platforms and tools for various business functions at Netflix, enabling them to utilize data to make critical, data-driven decisions. We focus on making it easy for our business partners to work with data efficiently, securely, and responsibly. We aspire to lead the industry in building a world-class data infrastructure, supporting Netflix’s goal to be the most popular and widely accessible destination for global internet entertainment.

As the Data Platform charter grows, we are expanding our presence to Poland to further increase our impact. We are seeking three Engineering Managers to help evolve and innovate our Product and Infrastructure. We are hiring across the following teams:

Engineering Manager, Data Platform Product Enhancement Team
This team is responsible for building strategic user-facing products for the Netflix Data Platform, serving various business-critical needs. The immediate focus will be on building and operating batch data connectors that support data movement needs across Netflix. These connectors will be integrated with our flagship product, Data Bridge, offering users a consolidated, managed data movement platform. In the future, this team will partner with other Data Platform product domains to enhance offerings in real-time connectors, search infrastructure for data discovery, product metrics instrumentation, and more. Experience with distributed systems or data platform domains such as Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Spark, Iceberg, Kafka, or Flink is valuable.

Engineering Manager, Online Data Stores Infrastructure Team
This team will take end-to-end ownership of internal data platform products, including ZooKeeper, ensuring their continued reliability, scalability, and evolution. Over time, the team will expand its scope to additional datastores and broader infrastructure initiatives. This expansion supports our mission to empower Netflix engineers’ productivity and innovation by providing a robust, efficient, and secure data platform, and by fostering collaboration among data platform teams to deliver greater organizational impact. Experience with distributed systems or data platform domains such as Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Spark, Iceberg, Kafka, or Flink is valuable.

Engineering Manager, Data Discovery and Experience UI Team
This team leads a mission-critical initiative to accelerate innovation by improving the user interface (UI) and technical health of our core data platform. The focus is on modernizing the front-end technology stack and revamping major internal applications and tooling, including Mantis, Raven, Maestro, and other solutions, onto a unified, streamlined architecture. This team will also drive technical health initiatives and partner closely with backend teams to ensure seamless platform integration, transforming the platform into a modern, scalable, and high-performing developer experience. Understanding of modern front-end technologies such as React, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Node.js is valuable for this role.

What you will do:

• Lead a team in designing and building organization-wide data platform components to enable faster product development and self-service access to critical data resources.

• Partner with domain infrastructure teams to deliver infrastructure and tooling for strategic products.

• Build cross-functional partnerships across Data Platform to align engineering teams and ensure their infrastructure and tooling needs are met.

• Develop, support, and grow a team of engineers, fostering an environment where all team members can contribute their perspectives and deliver impactful results in building stable, performant, and efficient services.

What we are looking for:

• An experienced engineering leader who can support a team of engineers in doing their best work while building and maintaining strong partnerships with peers and stakeholders.

• Ability to engage with technical strategy and decision-making, understanding both details and the broader context to help shape the product.

• Experience building and operating internal platform products for reliable, high-scale, and business-critical systems.

• Ability to bring structure to decision-making and reduce ambiguity by gathering data, seeking input, encouraging diverse viewpoints, and making pilot investments to inform direction.

• Proven ability to help teams deliver on critical priorities, manage competing demands, and partner with leadership to identify key areas for investment.

• Experience building and leading software engineering teams with a focus on inclusion and diversity, ensuring that all voices are valued and considered as we chart our direction.
