Overview

Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Xbox Video team to work on cutting-edge video technologies and hardware. You'll be involved in developing the Windows OS platform layer and low-level drivers. This role requires experience in video technologies and a strong understanding of operating systems.

Who you are

You have 5+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in video technologies, and are enthusiastic about working on cutting-edge hardware and software. Your background includes a solid understanding of operating systems, APIs, and driver-level code, which allows you to tackle complex challenges in the Xbox video ecosystem. You thrive in collaborative environments, working with both internal and external partners to solve problems and innovate.

Your experience with video encode, decode, color processing, motion estimation, and rate control makes you a valuable asset to the team. You are comfortable with low-level programming and have a passion for optimizing and debugging code to enhance performance. You understand the importance of user requirements and can translate them into actionable design documents.

You embrace a growth mindset and are eager to learn from your peers while also sharing your knowledge. What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Xbox Video team, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing the Windows OS platform layer and API layer that interacts with state-of-the-art graphics and video hardware. You will work closely with your team to identify user requirements and drive the development of design documents for various products and applications.

You will create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to establish robust solutions that meet the needs of users. Your role will involve collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that the video technologies you work on align with the overall goals of the Xbox video ecosystem.
