Microsoft is seeking a Lead Audio Software Engineer for The Coalition to empower the audio team and develop immersive audio features for Gears of War. You'll work with C# and Unreal Engine in Vancouver.
You have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and over 6 years of technical engineering experience, particularly in coding with languages like C#. Your background includes managing and leading audio engineers and designers, showcasing your ability to communicate sound ideas effectively and translate them into audio systems and tools. You are passionate about creating immersive audio experiences in console and PC games, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can work with diverse creative minds.
You possess a strong understanding of audio content and have experience in developing audio features that enhance gaming experiences. Your technical expertise allows you to work closely with core engine teams to ensure that runtime audio is performant and meets the high standards expected in the gaming industry. You are committed to empowering your team with the tools and pipelines necessary to bring their creative visions to life, and you have a growth mindset that aligns with the values of The Coalition.
Experience with audio middleware tools and a deep understanding of audio programming principles would be beneficial. Familiarity with game engines, particularly Unreal Engine, is a plus, as is a passion for gaming and a desire to push the boundaries of audio in interactive entertainment.
As the Lead Audio Software Engineer, you will be responsible for empowering the audio team by providing them with the necessary tools and pipelines to materialize their creative vision. You will collaborate with various teams to gather requirements and develop innovative audio features that enhance the gaming experience. Your role will involve working closely with the core engine team to ensure that runtime audio is optimized for performance, allowing for seamless integration into the game.
You will also be tasked with abstracting, sharing, and supporting audio tools, pipelines, and features across other studios within Xbox, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. Your leadership will guide the audio engineering team in their efforts to create award-winning audio experiences that resonate with players. You will be a key player in shaping the audio landscape of Gears of War, ensuring that every sound contributes to the immersive gameplay.
