You have extensive experience as a backend engineer, particularly in site reliability engineering (SRE), with a strong focus on ensuring system reliability and performance. Your background includes working in high-availability environments where you have successfully designed and implemented complex systems that scale effectively. You are a technical leader who thrives on optimizing systems and driving innovation in payment and financial services solutions.

Your expertise in the Observability Engineering (OE) stack is deep — you are proficient with tools such as Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Grafana, which you have used to enhance system observability and performance. You are also experienced in Terraform-based automation, allowing you to streamline infrastructure management and deployment processes. Your ability to set up, tune, and scale systems is complemented by your strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Your communication skills enable you to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are passionate about leveraging technology to improve user experiences and drive business success.

What you'll do

In your role as a Staff Backend Engineer (Fintech SRE) at CoupangPay, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical systems and services. You will lead the design and implementation of complex systems that meet the demands of a high-availability environment. Your work will involve optimizing existing systems and developing new solutions that enhance the user experience for customers and vendors alike.

You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to drive the adoption of best practices in system reliability and performance. This includes setting up monitoring and alerting systems using Grafana and other tools to ensure that any issues are identified and addressed promptly. You will also be involved in capacity planning and performance tuning to ensure that systems can handle increasing loads as Coupang continues to grow.

Your role will require you to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the fintech space, allowing you to bring innovative ideas to the team. You will mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their roles. Your contributions will directly impact the success of CoupangPay and its mission to provide seamless payment solutions to users.
