Acumen is seeking a Senior Investment Associate for their Hardest-to-Reach Impact Debt Fund, Amplify. You'll support early-stage investments in the off-grid solar sector in Sub-Saharan Africa. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in investment.
You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in investment, ideally with a focus on early-stage ventures or impact investing. Your background includes a strong commitment to social impact, particularly in sectors that serve underprivileged communities. You are self-reflective and aligned with Acumen's values, demonstrating a genuine desire to serve people living in poverty. You possess excellent communication skills in English and are willing to collaborate closely with your team to drive meaningful change. Your experience has equipped you with the ability to analyze investment opportunities critically and make informed decisions that align with both financial and social goals.
Experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly in off-grid solar solutions, would be a significant advantage. Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa's investment landscape is also desirable. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining a focus on the mission. A network of contacts within the investment community, particularly in impact investing, would be beneficial.
As a Senior Investment Associate, you will play a crucial role in identifying and evaluating early-stage investment opportunities within the off-grid solar sector. You will conduct thorough due diligence on potential investments, assessing both financial viability and social impact. Collaborating with the Amplify team, you will develop investment theses and strategies that align with Acumen's mission to serve the hardest-to-reach communities. You will also engage with entrepreneurs and stakeholders to understand their needs and challenges, providing support and guidance throughout the investment process.
Your responsibilities will include preparing investment memos and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that all relevant information is communicated effectively. You will monitor the performance of portfolio companies, providing insights and recommendations to enhance their growth and impact. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of thought leadership materials that highlight Acumen's work and the importance of investing in underserved markets.
