Waymo is hiring a Software Engineer for their Trip Platform team to implement and scale core trip functionalities for ride-hailing and delivery services. You'll work with C++ and backend applications, requiring 3+ years of experience in backend coding languages.
You have 3+ years of experience programming in backend coding languages, with a strong foundation in building backend applications and APIs. Your expertise in C++ is complemented by your understanding of low latency, large-scale, user-facing distributed systems. You possess domain knowledge across the transportation, mobility, and/or autonomous vehicle industries, which enhances your ability to contribute to Waymo's mission of improving access to mobility. You are a collaborative team player who thrives in a hybrid work environment, reporting to an Engineering Manager while working closely with cross-functional teams.
In this role, you will implement and scale Waymo's core trip platform to support multiple high-growth use cases, including ride-hailing and delivery. You will work on both 1st party and 3rd party B2B partners' needs, enabling broader access to Waymo technology for more people and markets. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing robust backend systems that ensure seamless user experiences. You will collaborate with product managers and other engineers to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions. Additionally, you will participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and help mentor junior engineers on the team.
