Overview
Google is seeking a Principal Architect III to lead cross-functional teams in designing and implementing cloud strategies for public sector customers. You'll leverage your expertise in cloud computing and enterprise architecture. This role requires 10+ years of experience in a customer-facing role.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, along with a wealth of practical experience — 10 years as an enterprise architect or in a customer-facing role has equipped you with the skills to navigate complex environments. Your background includes working with state, local, and higher education markets in Texas, giving you unique insights into the public sector landscape.
Your experience in cloud market insights and cloud computing spans applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms, and data — you understand the nuances of hybrid cloud deployments and on-premise-to-cloud migration strategies. You have a proven track record of collaborating with executive leaders in government agencies, showcasing your ability to build relationships and deliver results.
You are adept at structured enterprise architecture practices and have experience in enterprise technology buying and evaluation processes — your ability to architect, design, and implement highly distributed global cloud-based systems sets you apart. You thrive in cross-functional environments, orchestrating solutions that integrate multiple products to meet customer needs.
You are a quick learner, eager to embrace new emerging technologies and methodologies in the Cloud/IT technology space — your adaptability ensures you stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry. Your role as a hybrid technical and business advisor allows you to bridge the gap between technical teams and business objectives, ensuring alignment and success.
Desirable
Experience with specific cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus, as is familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders will enhance your effectiveness in this role.
What you'll do
In your role at Google Public Sector, you will lead cross-functional teams of experts to help customers design, plan, implement, and govern cloud strategies tailored to the public sector. You will engage with customers at various levels, from technical teams to executive leadership, ensuring that their cloud strategies align with their organizational goals.
You will recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to implement complete solutions — your insights will help optimize Google Cloud effectiveness for public sector clients. Your ability to manage enterprise architecture relationships will be crucial as you collaborate with specialists, product management, and technical teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
You will also be responsible for presenting at conferences and online events, showcasing your expertise and the value of Google Cloud to potential customers. Your role will involve a significant amount of travel, up to 30% of the time, to meet with clients and stakeholders across Texas.
What we offer
At Google, you will be part of a dynamic team that values innovation and collaboration. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will have the chance to work on impactful projects that shape the future of cloud computing in the public sector, making a difference in the communities we serve. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your unique perspective could be exactly what we need.
