Overview

Motional is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer for Radar Systems to lead the development of next-generation radar technology. You'll work on radar component design and testing, requiring deep expertise in radar hardware and automotive systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You have over 5 years of experience in hardware engineering, specifically focusing on radar systems and components. Your deep understanding of radar hardware and radar DSP allows you to effectively lead the design and development of advanced radar technologies. You have a proven track record in developing automotive radar components and are familiar with the intricacies of radar system design and performance testing.

Your experience includes managing technical supplier relationships and coordinating project milestones across various stakeholders. You excel in compiling and defining comprehensive sets of requirements for radar components, ensuring that all aspects of the design meet the necessary standards for performance and reliability.

You are a collaborative team player, working cross-functionally with teams in Perception, Systems, Mechanical, Vehicle, Manufacturing, Quality, Software, Cybersecurity, Diagnostics, and Reliability. Your ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams ensures that projects progress smoothly and efficiently.

You are skilled in developing and supporting testing for machine learning-based algorithms, including test design, planning, execution, and data collection. Your leadership in radar acceptance, performance, and characterization testing is crucial for ensuring robust system performance.

You have a strong analytical mindset, capable of conducting root cause analysis and overseeing issue resolution to maintain high quality and reliability in radar components. Your commitment to continuous improvement drives you to lead projects focused on enhancing radar components and processes.

Desirable

Experience with advanced mobility systems and a passion for innovation in automotive technology would be beneficial. Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance in the automotive industry is a plus.

What you'll do

In this role, you will take ownership of radar component design from concept to production. You will define requirements, select and manage suppliers, and integrate systems to ensure production readiness. Your leadership will guide technical supplier management, coordinating activities and project milestones across internal and external stakeholders.

You will compile, define, and maintain complete sets of requirements for radar components, ensuring that all specifications are met. Collaborating with various teams, you will develop and support testing for ML-based algorithms, focusing on test design, planning, execution, and data collection.

Leading radar acceptance, performance, and characterization testing will be a key responsibility, ensuring that the systems perform robustly under various conditions. You will also support and drive vehicle integration efforts for radar systems, ensuring seamless functionality within the broader mobility systems.

Conducting root cause analysis and overseeing issue resolution will be essential to maintain quality and reliability in radar components. You will lead continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing radar components and processes, contributing to the overall success of the Component Engineering Team.
