Databricks is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Identity and Access Management team to lead the strategy for authentication and authorization systems. You'll work with AWS, Java, and Python to build scalable identity solutions. This role requires strong leadership and technical expertise in IAM.
You have 5+ years of experience in engineering management, particularly in identity and access management systems — you've successfully led teams in building secure and scalable solutions that meet regulatory compliance and industry best practices. Your technical background includes expertise in cloud technologies, especially AWS, and programming languages such as Java and Python, which you leverage to guide your team in delivering high-quality IAM solutions.
You possess strong leadership skills — you know how to attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture. Your experience includes defining technical strategies and overseeing architecture and design decisions, ensuring that your team delivers pragmatic solutions that align with business goals.
You are a strategic thinker who can partner effectively with product and engineering leaders across the organization — you understand the importance of embedding secure identity solutions into every aspect of the product and can communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You are committed to continuous improvement and are always looking for ways to enhance processes and team performance.
Experience with regulatory compliance frameworks and security best practices is a plus — you understand the nuances of governance, privacy, and security needs that customers face in today's data-driven landscape. Familiarity with identity management tools and frameworks will help you lead your team more effectively.
As the Engineering Manager for IAM at Databricks, you will lead a high-performing engineering team focused on building and scaling authentication, authorization, and identity management solutions at cloud scale. You will define and drive the strategy for IAM systems, ensuring that user identity and access control frameworks are robust and scalable. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed secure identity solutions into all aspects of the product, enhancing the overall security posture of the platform.
You will provide technical oversight on architecture and design for IAM components, guiding your team to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer needs. You will also be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with industry best practices, helping customers meet their governance, privacy, and security requirements.
In addition to technical leadership, you will focus on team building and career development — conducting regular 1:1s, providing mentorship, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. You will play a key role in attracting and growing top engineering talent, ensuring that your team is equipped to tackle the challenges of building a trusted data and AI platform.
At Databricks, you will be part of a mission-driven organization that is dedicated to solving the world's toughest problems through data and AI. We offer a collaborative work environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on our customers' success. You will have access to professional development opportunities and resources to help you grow in your career.
We believe in the importance of work-life balance and offer flexible working arrangements to support your needs. Our competitive compensation package includes salary, benefits, and opportunities for equity participation, reflecting our commitment to recognizing and rewarding your contributions to the team and the company.
