What you'll do

As a Thermal Development Technician, you will preprocess and manufacture ceramic fibers, filaments, and powders essential for the fabrication of advanced thermal protection systems. You will be responsible for fabricating ceramic refractory billets, tiles, thermal gap fillers, and coatings that can withstand extreme environments. Your role will involve basic fabrication tasks, surface preparation for processing, bonding, and oven curing of materials. You will document each step of the material processing to ensure that procedures can be replicated accurately. Additionally, you will read and interpret engineering drawings, understanding the symbols and notes that guide your work. Your contributions will play a crucial role in the development of heat shields for SpaceX's next-generation rockets and spacecraft, directly impacting the future of space exploration.
