You'll be involved in the fabrication of heat shields and other components for next-generation rockets. This role requires hands-on experience with ceramic materials and fabrication processes.
You are a hands-on technician with a strong understanding of ceramic materials and fabrication processes. You thrive in environments where you can work directly with your hands, and you are comfortable in both office and lab settings. You have a keen eye for detail and can document processes precisely to ensure replicability. You are familiar with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, which allows you to understand the specifications and requirements for the components you will be working on. Your ability to perform product inspections and rework as necessary ensures that the highest quality standards are met. As a Thermal Development Technician, you will preprocess and manufacture ceramic fibers, filaments, and powders essential for the fabrication of advanced thermal protection systems. You will be responsible for fabricating ceramic refractory billets, tiles, thermal gap fillers, and coatings that can withstand extreme environments. Your role will involve basic fabrication tasks, surface preparation for processing, bonding, and oven curing of materials. You will document each step of the material processing to ensure that procedures can be replicated accurately. Additionally, you will read and interpret engineering drawings, understanding the symbols and notes that guide your work.
