Job Description

Amazon’s Worldwide Returns & ReCommerce (WWRR) team invents bold solutions in sustainable transportation and returns experiences that create trust and value for customers, selling partners, and shippers and benefit people and the planet. We champion and lead the way to achieve Zero Defects, Zero Cost of Returns, Zero Product Waste, and Zero Carbon, at scale.
We are an agile, innovative organization dedicated to “The Four Zeros”. We constantly invent to delight customers and create long-term value while encouraging the reuse of returned product and reducing product waste. WWRR&S includes the full complement of business, product, program, operational, data, and software engineering teams, who work together to identify and remove defects that cause returns, reinvent the return experience, and manage the lifecycle of returned, overstock, and damaged products, with the objective of throwing nothing away.

Key job responsibilities
System Development engineers troubleshoot, debug, evaluate and resolve computer-identified alarms, make feature enhancements, bug fixes, systems management, perform software deployments and migrations, host management and automate routine operational tasks. The position requires a combination of strong troubleshooting, technical, programming/scripting and communication skills and includes a mix of on call and operational tasks and involves small to medium level software development work. Responsible to develop tools and automation to achieve human free operations. They use the right tool for the job, and modify software in a way that leverages the overall system architecture. If you have a strong Application Support background, are interested in growth and have passion to develop tools at large scale, this is the opportunity for you.

About the team
The Operations Evaluation (Ops Eval) team within Customer Returns is responsible for developing and maintaining tools to accurately evaluate and grade customer returns from retail, FBA, and subsidiaries. The team manages systematic and network-wide returns evaluation, grading rules, and content through the Content Management System (CMS) of the Attribute-Based Evaluation engine (ABE). Their tools are designed to be user-friendly for any associate, whether in Amazon or non-Amazon locations, with self-serviceable rules to support a scalable, distributed operations network. One of their key products for associates is TREX, and they work backwards to ensure customers receive their purchases in the expected condition.- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
