SpaceX is hiring a CNC Machinist to set up and operate multi-axis CNC Mills and inspect parts for precision. You'll work with complex materials and tight tolerances in Hawthorne, CA.
You have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and at least 3 years of experience in setting up, operating, and programming CNC mills. You understand basic G-Code and are comfortable making adjustments to feed and speed. Your ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, notes, and tolerances is strong, and you are skilled in using hand inspection tools to check machined features. You have experience working with various materials, including Inconel, stainless steel, copper, and titanium, and are familiar with multiple machine controls such as OSP, Fanuc, and Siemens.
You are willing to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed. You can lift up to 25 lbs unassisted and stand for extended periods, typically 8 hours or more. You are also capable of stooping, bending, crawling, and maneuvering in tight spaces, which is essential for the role.
In this role, you will set up and operate multi-axis CNC Mills, including up to 5-axis machines. You will inspect parts using hand tools to verify dimensions and complete machining operations from blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions. Your work will involve handling complex, tight tolerance parts and various materials, ensuring that you meet productivity expectations. You will communicate with shop leadership when production is inhibited and continuously provide feedback for process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
