Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 5 years of work experience in software development. Your coding experience spans across languages such as C++, C, or Rust, and you have spent 2 years in a technical leadership role overseeing projects. You possess a strong understanding of concurrency, multithreading, and synchronization, which are critical for the role. Additionally, experience with Linux Internals, Kernel, and Virtualization is preferred, showcasing your ability to work with complex systems.

You are versatile and enthusiastic about tackling new problems across the full-stack, demonstrating leadership qualities that inspire your peers. Your background includes working on large-scale systems, and you are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive impactful projects forward. You bring fresh ideas from various areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, and data storage, which are essential for developing next-generation technologies at Google.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Borglet team, you will work on an on-machine agent within Google's Cluster Management System, which is one of the most impactful software systems at Google. Your responsibilities will include developing secure solutions that connect guest (virtualized) and host (hypervisor) environments, ensuring that the software operates efficiently at scale. You will lead the design and development of infrastructure to automatically measure and detect regressions in key performance metrics, contributing to the overall reliability and performance of Google's services.

You will collaborate with peers to identify, design, create, and optimize software features that run on Google's hardware stack. This role requires you to stay updated with the latest technologies and methodologies, allowing you to implement best practices in software development.
