Job Description

Who you are

You are a mission-driven and collaborative individual with a strong background in legal counsel, particularly in commercial transactions and employment law. With at least 5 years of experience, you have a pragmatic approach to legal challenges and a business-oriented mindset that allows you to provide strategic legal advice effectively. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable navigating complex legal landscapes across multiple jurisdictions. Your strong communication skills enable you to work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that legal considerations are integrated into business strategies.

Desirable

Experience in the biotechnology or technology sectors is a plus, as is familiarity with SaaS agreements and data protection regulations. You are proactive in identifying potential legal issues and are skilled at negotiating contracts that align with business objectives while mitigating risks. Your ability to build relationships with stakeholders across the organization will be key to your success in this role.

What you'll do

As Senior Counsel at Benchling, you will own and manage the full lifecycle of commercial contracts for our EMEA operations. This includes structuring, drafting, and negotiating various agreements such as SaaS contracts, professional services agreements, and data processing agreements. You will collaborate closely with the EMEA sales and revenue operations teams to accelerate deal closures and provide strategic legal insights that support business growth. Your role will also involve guiding compliance efforts across different jurisdictions, ensuring that Benchling adheres to local laws and regulations.

You will be a trusted advisor to the EMEA teams, providing legal guidance that balances business needs with legal requirements. This will require you to stay updated on changes in employment law and privacy regulations that may impact the organization. You will also play a critical role in developing and implementing legal policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency and reduce legal risks.

What we offer

At Benchling, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is transforming the biotechnology landscape through innovative technology solutions. We offer a collaborative work environment where your contributions will directly impact the success of our clients and the advancement of science. You will have opportunities for professional growth and development, working alongside talented individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the world. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
