Overview

Okta is seeking a Staff Behavioral Data Scientist to lead efforts in understanding developer engagement and improving retention strategies. You'll work with various data sources and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This role requires expertise in behavioral data analysis.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in data science with a focus on behavioral analysis — you understand how to interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights that drive product strategy. You possess excellent collaboration skills, enabling you to work effectively with researchers, product managers, designers, engineers, and marketers. You are a lifelong learner who embraces diverse perspectives and experiences, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

You have experience in building predictive models and segmentation efforts — you know how to leverage various data sources, including surveys and clickstream data, to inform decision-making. Your analytical mindset allows you to uncover deeper insights into user behavior, particularly in the context of developer engagement and experience.

You are comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment — you can adapt to changing priorities and are motivated by the challenge of making sense of complex data. You are passionate about using data to enhance user experiences and drive business growth.

Desirable

Experience with identity management or authentication platforms is a plus — familiarity with tools like Auth0 can enhance your contributions to the team. A background in software development or engineering can also be beneficial, as it allows you to better understand the technical aspects of the product.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead initiatives to measure and improve developer experience on the Auth0 platform — your work will directly influence product and business strategies. You will analyze user engagement data to identify trends and patterns that inform retention and activation strategies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that insights are actionable and integrated into the product development process.

You will be responsible for building and refining predictive models that help forecast user behavior — your insights will guide the team in making data-driven decisions that enhance user satisfaction and reduce churn. You will also lead segmentation efforts to better understand different user groups and tailor experiences to meet their needs.

Your role will involve synthesizing data from multiple sources, including product usage metrics and user feedback — you will create comprehensive reports that communicate findings to stakeholders and drive strategic discussions. You will mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the overall growth of the data science team.

What we offer

At Okta, you will be part of a mission-driven company that values innovation and collaboration — you will have the opportunity to work on impactful projects that shape the future of identity management. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional development and growth within the organization. You will be part of a diverse team that celebrates unique perspectives and fosters a culture of learning and improvement.
