Job Description

Who you are

You are a dedicated individual with a strong interest in mechanical systems and a desire to work in a unique environment. As an Engine Mechanic, you will assist the Chief Engineer and the assistant engineer in maintaining and repairing all vessel systems onboard the ship. You are ready to embrace the challenges of working on a ship and are committed to ensuring the safety and efficiency of the vessel's operations.

You understand the importance of teamwork and communication in a maritime setting. You are willing to learn from experienced engineers and contribute to the overall success of the engineering team. Your attention to detail and problem-solving skills will be essential as you work on various mechanical systems.

Desirable

Experience or education in mechanical engineering or a related field is a plus, but not required. A passion for maritime operations and a willingness to learn will set you apart.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance, operation, and repair of all vessel systems onboard the ship. This includes hotel equipment and various mechanical systems that ensure the ship operates smoothly. You will work closely with the Chief Engineer and the assistant engineer to perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks, troubleshoot issues, and implement repairs as needed.

You will be involved in the daily operations of the ship, ensuring that all systems are functioning correctly and efficiently. Your role will require you to be proactive in identifying potential issues before they become significant problems. You will also participate in safety drills and training sessions to ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations.

Your work schedule will consist of 12-hour shifts, approximately 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off, allowing you to immerse yourself fully in the maritime experience during your working period. This unique schedule provides an opportunity to explore the world while contributing to the mission of Lindblad Expeditions.

What we offer

Lindblad Expeditions offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and adventurous environment. You will be part of a team that is committed to providing exceptional experiences for guests traveling to some of the world's most remote locations. The company values teamwork, safety, and a passion for exploration.

As an Engine Mechanic, you will gain hands-on experience in the maritime industry, working alongside experienced professionals. This role provides a pathway for career growth within the company, with opportunities to advance your skills and knowledge in marine engineering.

We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement. Lindblad Expeditions is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where all team members can thrive.
