Overview

GHJ is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their food manufacturing organization. You'll be responsible for financial reporting, operational analysis, and process improvement. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You are a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. With over 5 years of progressive experience, you thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and are eager to grow with the company. You possess strong analytical skills and can communicate financial information clearly, managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Your expertise includes leading and supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. You are skilled in preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity. You have a solid understanding of GAAP and can produce accurate and timely financial statements.

You excel in financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and cost analysis related to manufacturing operations. You are comfortable partnering with operations and leadership to provide insights on cost drivers, margins, and performance metrics. Your experience also includes assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis, as well as supporting inventory accounting.

You maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting processes, and you assist with audits by preparing schedules and coordinating with external auditors. You are always on the lookout for opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency across accounting and finance functions.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead and support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. You will prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity, producing financial statements that reflect the organization's performance.

You will perform financial analysis, including variance, trend, and cost analysis, to provide insights into manufacturing operations. Partnering with operations and leadership, you will help identify cost drivers and performance metrics that impact the bottom line. Your role will also involve assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Inventory accounting will be a key responsibility, where you will manage standard costing, inventory reconciliations, and necessary adjustments. You will work to maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting processes, ensuring that the organization operates efficiently and effectively.

Additionally, you will assist with audits by preparing schedules and coordinating with external auditors, ensuring compliance and transparency in financial reporting. You will identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency across accounting and finance functions, supporting special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed.
