Waymo is seeking a Software Engineer for their Commercialization Onboard Platform team to develop ride-hailing and fleet management capabilities. You'll work with C++ and various Google technologies to enhance autonomous vehicle systems. This role requires 3+ years of experience in backend development.
You have a BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, along with 3+ years of industry experience in general distributed systems and backend development. Proficiency in C++ is essential, as you will be writing code that runs on Waymo’s fleet of autonomous vehicles. You are eager to collaborate with experts in the field of autonomous vehicles and have a strong understanding of both onboard and offboard components. You are comfortable developing interfaces across multiple stacks for managing trip and passenger state machines. You have a keen interest in building infrastructure for simulating and testing trip state machine and onboard changes, and you are excited to make use of various Google technologies like Borg, Spanner, and Flume.
In this role, you will write code that powers Waymo’s fleet of autonomous vehicles, contributing to the development of the ride-hailing platform. You will work closely with a team of experts to design and implement systems that enhance the capabilities of the Waymo Driver. Your responsibilities will include developing interfaces for managing trip and passenger state machines, as well as building infrastructure for simulating and testing changes to the onboard systems. You will also have the opportunity to deepen your expertise in various Google technologies, applying them to solve specific challenges faced by the team. Collaboration is key, as you will engage with both onboard and offboard components to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $170,000—$216,000 USD, along with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program and an equity incentive plan.
