Senior Application Security Engineer

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in application security, with a strong focus on vulnerability management and penetration testing. Your expertise in security best practices allows you to effectively identify and remediate vulnerabilities in complex applications. You are proficient in using tools like Burp Suite and have a solid understanding of OWASP guidelines, which you apply to ensure secure software development processes.

Your technical skills include programming in languages such as Python and Java, enabling you to perform deep code-level analysis and automate security processes. You are comfortable working in a Linux environment and have experience with security assessments and audits in regulated industries. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with engineering teams to foster a culture of Security by Design.

You are a proactive communicator, able to articulate security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are passionate about staying updated with the latest security trends and threats, continuously seeking to improve your skills and knowledge in the field. You believe in the importance of inclusive and innovative thinking, and you are eager to challenge the status quo in application security.

Desirable

Experience with cloud security practices and tools is a plus, as is familiarity with compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP. You may also have knowledge of automated security testing tools and methodologies, which can enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for championing application security best practices across Unqork's engineering organizations. You will conduct manual penetration testing and security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and provide remediation guidance. Your hands-on approach will involve deep-dive analysis of applications and infrastructure to ensure resilience against modern threats.

You will automate security processes using policy as code, streamlining the identification and remediation of security vulnerabilities. Collaborating with engineering teams, you will help integrate security practices into the software development lifecycle, ensuring that security is a fundamental aspect of application design and deployment.

Your role will also involve fostering a culture of security awareness within the organization, providing training and resources to help teams understand and implement security best practices. You will actively participate in security initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of Unqork's security posture.
