You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This position requires 5+ years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment.

Job Description

Who you are

You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field, along with at least 5 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment. Your background includes working with electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution systems, and you are familiar with OSHA standard safety equipment and practices. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment up to 50 lbs, and you are comfortable working non-standard hours and shifts.

Your experience includes maintenance of electrical distribution systems, ideally in data centers, hospitals, or power plants. You possess knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques using standard hand tools and digital metering equipment. You understand the electrical systems used in data centers, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, and Power Distribution Units (PDUs). You are also skilled in communicating effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Facilities Technician at Google, you will manage the uptime and maintenance of critical electrical systems, including Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, generators, and electrical distribution networks. You will operate, monitor, and maintain data center facilities systems and equipment, responding to any abnormal conditions that arise. Your role will involve supporting the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure.

You will collaborate with a team of technicians and engineers to ensure that all electrical systems are functioning optimally and that any issues are addressed promptly. Your responsibilities will include conducting regular inspections, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting electrical systems to minimize downtime. You will also be involved in documenting maintenance activities and ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering systems in the world, contributing to the reliability and efficiency of Google's data centers. You will be part of a dynamic team that values innovation and excellence in maintaining critical infrastructure.
