SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Optical Production) to manage integration build flow and test operations for optical assemblies. You'll work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to optimize manufacturing processes. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and at least 1 year of experience.
You hold a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline and have at least 1 year of professional experience in mechanical engineering. You possess a working knowledge of design, manufacturing, testing, and flight, demonstrating engineering intuition and critical thinking. You are comfortable working under ambiguous requirements with minimal oversight, showcasing your ability to tackle challenges across a variety of products and subassemblies. Your collaborative spirit allows you to interface effectively with both engineers and technicians to optimize manufacturing and automation processes.
Experience with optical systems or assemblies is a plus, as is familiarity with integration build flow and test operations. You have a proactive approach to evaluating proposed designs for manufacturability and integration, and you are eager to develop and refine manufacturing assembly procedures based on lessons learned.
In this role, you will manage the integration build flow and test operations for optical assemblies required for SpaceX's satellites. You will evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration, ensuring that they meet the necessary specifications. Your responsibilities will include interfacing with engineers and technicians to optimize manufacturing and automation processes, as well as developing and refining assembly procedures based on your insights and experiences. You will enable the day-to-day execution of product integration and test flow, evaluating non-conformances to determine root causes and create actionable items for system improvements. Additionally, you will work closely with upstream and downstream partner teams to drive improvements at the system level, contributing to the overall success of SpaceX's mission.
