Motional is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the development of large-scale AI models and software evaluation frameworks for autonomous vehicles. You'll work with AWS and Kubernetes, focusing on data engineering and machine learning principles. This role requires strong leadership skills and experience in advanced data analysis.
You have a strong background in data engineering and machine learning principles, with at least 5 years of experience in leading technical teams. Your expertise includes developing and deploying advanced data analysis frameworks, and you are comfortable working with large-scale orchestration systems. You have a proven track record of delivering critical software solutions that support machine learning models and autonomous vehicle software.
You possess excellent leadership skills, enabling you to guide a diverse team of engineers effectively. You are passionate about mentoring and developing talent within your team, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders is one of your key strengths.
You are familiar with AWS and Kubernetes orchestration frameworks, and you have experience in monitoring and validating machine learning models in production environments. You understand the importance of safety and reliability in autonomous systems and are committed to ensuring high standards in your work.
Experience with large-scale perception analysis frameworks and tools for root cause analysis would be a plus. Familiarity with the challenges of autonomous vehicle behavior and the implications of machine learning changes on safety is highly desirable.
In this role, you will lead the Ground Truth Regression team, responsible for validating all changes to perception that can impact autonomous vehicle behavior. You will oversee the development of the full stack, including AWS Kubernetes orchestration frameworks, model metrics, regression reports, and deep dive analysis UIs. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring that the team delivers high-quality software that meets the rigorous demands of autonomous driving.
You will collaborate closely with other perception and machine learning teams to develop metrics and analyze results, ensuring that the software you deliver is robust and reliable. Your role will involve hands-on technical leadership, guiding your team through the complexities of large-scale data analysis and machine learning model validation.
You will also be responsible for monitoring model errors, anomalies, and rare driving scenarios across thousands of driving hours, providing critical insights that inform the development process. Your work will directly contribute to the safety and effectiveness of Motional's autonomous vehicle technology.
