AutoCADSolidWorks

Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Crew Starship team to design and build critical spacecraft systems. You'll work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to ensure the safety and success of future astronauts. This role requires ownership of hardware design from concept to integration.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in aerospace or related fields — you've designed and developed complex systems that prioritize safety and functionality. Your expertise includes proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, allowing you to create detailed designs and simulations that meet rigorous standards. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that all aspects of hardware design are aligned with mission objectives. You possess strong analytical skills, enabling you to perform hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to optimize designs effectively. Your ability to iterate rapidly on manufacturing processes and development testing is crucial in a fast-paced setting like SpaceX.

Desirable

Experience with spacecraft systems or similar high-stakes engineering projects is a plus. Familiarity with materials science and structural analysis will enhance your contributions to the Crew Starship team. A background in project management or leadership roles can also be beneficial as you guide design solutions through various stages of development.

What you'll do

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on the Crew Starship team, you will own the design and development of next-generation structures, mechanisms, or interior systems for Crew Starship vehicles. Your responsibilities will include performing hand calculations and FEA to develop, assess, and optimize designs that are critical to the success and safety of future astronauts. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that hardware meets all design requirements and mission objectives. Rapid iteration on manufacturing processes and development testing will be a key part of your role, allowing you to adapt designs based on real-world feedback and testing results. You will also be involved in the integration of systems, ensuring that all components work seamlessly together to support the ambitious goals of SpaceX.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to making space exploration a reality. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where your contributions directly impact the future of human spaceflight. Join us in our mission to enable human life on Mars and beyond, and be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology.
