Overview

Amazon is hiring an Engineering Operations Technician to maintain mission-critical technology infrastructure in Sparks, Nevada. You'll work with electrical and mechanical systems to ensure 99.999% uptime. This role requires hands-on troubleshooting skills and knowledge of data center operations.

Who you are

You are an Engineering Technician with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems. You have hands-on experience troubleshooting complex equipment and are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Your attention to detail ensures that you maintain the highest standards of operational excellence, contributing to the overall uptime of critical infrastructure. You thrive in collaborative settings, working alongside a diverse team of engineers and specialists to solve challenging problems. You understand the importance of maintaining mission-critical facilities and are committed to ensuring seamless operations. You are eager to learn and grow in your role, embracing opportunities to expand your technical skills and knowledge.

Desirable

Experience with data center operations or similar environments is a plus. Familiarity with diesel generators, UPS systems, and three-phase electrical systems will help you excel in this role. A background in AWS infrastructure services or cloud technologies is also beneficial, as it aligns with the mission of keeping the cloud running smoothly.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of our data centers. Your responsibilities will include operating and troubleshooting various electrical and mechanical systems, including stand-by diesel generators, switch gear, UPSs, and cooling systems. You will work closely with other technicians and engineers to ensure that all equipment is functioning optimally, contributing to our goal of achieving 99.999% uptime. You will be involved in routine maintenance tasks, as well as emergency response situations, where your quick thinking and technical skills will be crucial. You will document your work and collaborate with team members to identify areas for improvement in our operational processes. Your role will also involve participating in training sessions to stay updated on the latest technologies and best practices in data center operations.
