Overview

Amazon is hiring a Software Development Manager to lead a team focused on cloud-native networking features and innovative managed compute solutions. You'll work with AWS technologies and drive product strategy while improving performance and operations. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a proven track record of leading engineering teams and developing cloud-native solutions — your experience includes managing complex projects and driving technical excellence in your team. You understand the importance of building a culture that values both people and products, ensuring that your team is motivated and engaged.

Your technical expertise spans across networking features such as security, authentication, and load balancing — you are well-versed in AWS technologies and have a deep understanding of scalable architecture patterns. You are passionate about leveraging machine learning and generative AI to enhance product performance and operational efficiency.

You possess strong communication skills, allowing you to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners — your ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences is a key asset. You are committed to mentoring and developing your team members, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment where innovation is key — you are always looking for ways to improve processes and drive adoption of cutting-edge technologies. Your strategic mindset enables you to define long-term visions and product strategies that align with organizational goals.

Desirable

Experience with automation and tooling for service-oriented architecture (SOA) is a plus — you understand the challenges of managing SOA concerns and are adept at providing higher-level abstractions to simplify complex systems. Familiarity with KPIs related to availability, efficiency, and productivity will help you drive continuous improvement in your team's output.

What you'll do

As a Software Development Manager at Amazon, you will lead a talented team of engineers focused on developing innovative managed connectivity solutions — your role will involve defining the long-term vision and driving both short and long-term product strategies. You will work closely with internal customers to understand their needs and translate them into actionable engineering tasks.

You will oversee the development of cloud-native networking features, ensuring that they are secure, highly available, and easy to scale — your leadership will guide the team in adopting best practices and engineering standards. You will also be responsible for setting performance metrics and continuously improving KPIs on behalf of service owners.

Your role will require you to stay abreast of the latest advancements in AWS technologies and machine learning — you will leverage these technologies to enhance load management and operational performance across a portfolio of networking products. You will foster a collaborative environment where team members feel empowered to share ideas and innovate.

In addition to technical leadership, you will play a crucial role in hiring and developing your team — you will identify talent, conduct interviews, and ensure that your team has the resources and support they need to succeed. You will also be responsible for conducting regular performance reviews and providing constructive feedback to help your team members grow.

What we offer

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package that includes equity and comprehensive benefits — you will have access to a range of medical, financial, and other benefits designed to support your well-being. The company values diversity and inclusion, encouraging applicants from all backgrounds to apply.

You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that impacts millions of customers worldwide — your contributions will directly influence the efficiency and effectiveness of Amazon's services. Join a team that is dedicated to innovation and excellence, where your ideas and leadership will make a significant impact.
