Google is seeking a Deployment Support Technician III to perform component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You'll work with Linux operating systems and networking protocols across various locations. This role requires experience in server systems maintenance and the ability to travel up to 70%.
You have a strong background in performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment — your experience includes diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware, and server hardware. You are familiar with networking protocols and have the physical capability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as the stamina to exert yourself physically over extended periods. You are flexible with your schedule, able to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays, and are open to traveling up to 70% of the time as needed.
You hold a Bachelor's degree or have equivalent practical experience, along with at least 4 years of experience in the maintenance and monitoring of server systems. Your background includes working in a data center or network operation center environment, where you have honed your skills in performing repairs and troubleshooting IT equipment. You have experience with Linux operating systems and possess project management and leadership skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with teams.
You have a keen interest in working within a fast-paced environment and are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies. Your experience in project management will help you lead initiatives and collaborate with various teams to ensure operational excellence.
As a Deployment Support Technician III at Google, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and server software, including Google's Linux cluster. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the security and integrity of data, tracking various forms of media to check for non-standard data security issues. Your role will involve disassembling specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life and performing part replacements or maintenance as needed.
You will be expected to apply your technical expertise to resolve identified issues efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance of server systems. Your ability to work collaboratively with other teams will be crucial in maintaining the high standards of Google's Hardware Operations team, which is responsible for the physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology.
