DataOps Engineer II

Who you are

You have a strong background in DataOps or DevOps with at least 3-5 years of experience in managing and designing scalable data solutions. Your expertise in big data technologies allows you to evaluate and choose the best technology stacks that align with client data strategies. You are comfortable interfacing with clients at various levels, including VPs and Directors, to understand their strategic requirements and translate them into technical solutions. You possess excellent problem-solving skills and can perform root cause analysis for production errors, ensuring high availability and reliability of data pipelines.

You are proficient in container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and you have experience with configuration management systems. Your scripting skills in Shell and Python enable you to automate DevOps processes effectively, reducing team effort and improving efficiency. You are familiar with CI/CD practices and have a solid understanding of monitoring and support practices within a team environment. Your experience with application support, integration development, and data management makes you a valuable asset to any team.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS is a plus, as is familiarity with big data systems like InfluxDB or Elasticsearch. You are also knowledgeable about various databases and have a strong grasp of engineering best practices. Your ability to drive good engineering practices from the ground up will help foster a culture of excellence within the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and deploying highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed components using big data technologies. You will work closely with clients to align Sigmoid with their key initiatives, ensuring that the solutions you provide meet their strategic requirements. You will interface daily with customers across leading Fortune 500 companies, providing technical leadership and support for their data operations.

You will drive automation and massive deployments, developing scripts to automate DevOps processes and improve team efficiency. Your role will involve supporting TB scale pipelines, performing root cause analysis for production errors, and assisting developers in day-to-day DevOps operations. You will also be responsible for designing the roster and escalation matrix for the team, ensuring that all team members are supported in their roles.

As a DataOps Engineer II, you will guide the DevOps team in their daily design and operations, fostering a collaborative environment where best practices are shared and implemented. You will have the opportunity to travel to client locations, providing on-site support and building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
