Move our mission, and your career, forward.
Most claims teams move slowly. Processes, sign-offs, and outdated systems get in the way of good decisions. At Marshmallow, we move faster. We’re commercially strong, tech-powered, and built to give claims experts the tools, insight, and freedom to make sharper calls for customers.
We look for people with deep expertise who are restless for a better way of working. If you’ve ever felt held back by bureaucracy, you’ll find the autonomy, pace, and stretch at Marshmallow that let you do your best work — and keep learning as you go.
We’re looking for an experienced and self-sufficient Subrogation Handler to join our growing Claims Subrogation Team. While we’re no longer a brand new function, we are still establishing and refining our processes – so your experience and technical knowledge will be key in helping shape how we operate as we scale. You’ll play an important role in supporting more junior members of the team, while managing your own portfolio of work and contributing to the continuous improvement of our ways of working.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong claimant insurer recovery experience and a solid grasp of litigation processes, who’s confident working autonomously while also supporting more junior team members.
Manage your own caseload of recovery claims, consistently delivering market-leading cost control and excellent customer outcomes
Take ownership of recovery from the earliest possible stage — preparing allegations, pursuing recoveries proactively, and engaging stakeholders to keep things moving
Provide guidance and technical support junior team members, including ad hoc mentoring and knowledge sharing
Prepare and review cases for panel solicitors, supporting litigation and handling appropriate cases in-house
Make commercially-minded decisions around settlement strategy, including when to recommend discontinuation of recovery
Accurately calculate and justify recovery outlays, including for total loss, repair, storage, and other disbursements
Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce recovery lifecycle times — especially where claims can be settled promptly
Work closely with third-party insurers, legal representatives, and panel solicitors to secure recovery
Ensure clear communication using telephony and email and ownership across all cases
Support the broader development of the team and function as we continue to refine our approach
You have a great eye for detail
You can make decisions quickly and know when to refer for a second opinion
You are a quick learner and embrace change
You are a self-starter who likes to take ownership but is also able to thrive in a team while ensuring quality output
You always seek ways to improve processes
You’re able to see the bigger picture and support any aspect of the team to achieve our larger goals
2 years relevant experience in the motor claims space, across Recovery functions
You’ve seen first hand what it’s like to be part of a fast-growing team and are open to the challenge of developing teams
Experience helping others to deliver in their role, and a desire to further develop your skills

A skill-based task interview where you will discuss your previous experience and ways of working with two members of our Claims team (1 hour)
We’ll let you know if you’re invited to an interview or not. But, as a small team with a lot of applications to consider, we can’t give individual feedback on each application.
