Handshake is seeking Economics Professors for a temporary AI research project. You'll leverage your professional experience to evaluate AI models and provide feedback. No AI experience is required, and the position is fully remote.
You have at least 4 years of professional experience in economics, which may include delivering lectures on econometrics and macroeconomics, preparing course materials, and evaluating student work. Your background may also involve conducting and publishing research in economics, ensuring you stay updated through literature and conferences. You are comfortable advising students and have a strong understanding of the responsibilities that come with teaching and research in your field.
You are open to learning new skills and contributing to the development of AI models in your area of expertise. You understand the importance of providing clear and structured feedback to enhance the model's understanding of workplace tasks and language. You are adaptable and can work independently in a remote and asynchronous environment, managing your time effectively to meet project needs.
While no prior AI experience is required, having familiarity with AI concepts or a willingness to engage with AI technologies can be beneficial. You may also have experience in developing educational materials or prompts that reflect your field, which will aid in evaluating AI responses effectively.
In this role, you will contribute to an hourly, temporary AI research project by leveraging your professional experience in economics. You will evaluate what AI models produce in your field and assess content related to your work. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver clear, structured feedback that strengthens the model’s understanding of your workplace tasks and language. You will develop prompts for AI models that reflect your field and evaluate their responses, ensuring they align with real-world applications.
The position is flexible, allowing you to work independently from wherever you are. You will have the opportunity to engage in projects that open periodically throughout the year, depending on availability. This role requires a commitment of approximately 5–20 hours per week, with no minimum commitment, allowing you to balance this work with other professional responsibilities.
