Datadog is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for their Product Analytics team to design and build scalable backend systems. You'll work with Java, Spring, and PostgreSQL to process and analyze user data. This role requires 5+ years of experience in backend engineering.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have tackled complex engineering challenges. Your deep expertise in Java and Spring allows you to ship high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests, and you have strong opinions on service architecture and testing strategies. You are familiar with data processing and analytics, understanding how to manipulate and store data efficiently for querying. You thrive in collaborative environments, valuing team culture and engineering standards. You enjoy participating in hands-on engineering work, including coding, code reviews, and design reviews, and you are eager to drive technical architecture decisions that align with product goals.
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and containerization tools such as Docker is a plus. Familiarity with PostgreSQL and data analytics frameworks will help you excel in this role.
