Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Hardware Test & Automation team to develop integrated operations and automation infrastructure for testing Starshield satellites. You'll work with technologies like Java, Python, and C++ in Hawthorne, CA.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in developing automation infrastructure and testing frameworks. Your background includes strong programming skills in languages such as Java and Python, and you are familiar with C++ for embedded systems. You understand the importance of reliability and design in software development, especially in high-stakes environments like aerospace. Your experience with embedded Linux systems and test automation tools will be crucial in this role. You are a collaborative team player who can communicate effectively with hardware engineers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware systems. You are eager to learn and adapt, even if you don't have prior aerospace experience.

Desirable

Experience with Hardware In The Loop (HITL) testing is a plus, as is familiarity with satellite systems and operations. Knowledge of automation frameworks and tools will enhance your contributions to the team. A passion for space exploration and a desire to work on cutting-edge technology will drive your success in this role.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Starshield Integration & Test team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the software infrastructure that supports the testing of Starshield satellites. You will design and implement automation solutions that streamline the testing process, ensuring that all hardware systems are rigorously tested for reliability and performance. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to define requirements and develop tools that facilitate rapid development and accurate testing of hardware systems. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise during testing, ensuring that the software and hardware work seamlessly together. Your expertise will help drive innovation in the testing processes, contributing to the overall success of the Starshield program.
