Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Structures Engineer for the Starship project to develop rapidly manufacturable assemblies. You'll work closely with design teams and production technicians, utilizing skills in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. This role is based at Starbase, TX.

Who you are

You have a background in engineering with a focus on structures, ideally with experience in aerospace or automotive industries. You understand the importance of manufacturability and have a collaborative mindset, working closely with design teams to ensure that production processes align with vehicle design requirements. Your experience includes developing tooling and production procedures that enhance efficiency and quality in manufacturing.

You possess strong problem-solving skills and are comfortable overseeing hardware production throughout its lifecycle. You have a keen eye for detail and are committed to driving meaningful changes to parts, processes, and tooling to improve the overall production system. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is a key asset.

Desirable

Experience with rapid prototyping and manufacturing techniques is a plus. Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulations will help you navigate the complexities of the industry. You are adaptable and open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can enhance your work.

What you'll do

As a Structures Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for creating assemblies for the Starship and Super Heavy Booster. This includes working closely with vehicle analysts and design teams to ensure that all solutions meet the necessary design and manufacturing process requirements. You will develop production procedures and manage the transition of primary structures and assemblies from the development phase to full-scale production.

You will collaborate with production technicians on the production line, guiding them through the initial development articles and into rate production. Your role will involve driving and implementing changes that enhance the production system, ensuring that the assemblies are built efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

In this position, you will significantly influence the vehicle's design, equipment, and factory infrastructure. You will be expected to take ownership of your projects, ensuring that all aspects of the build process are optimized for manufacturability and performance. Your contributions will play a crucial role in SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars.
