Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Critical Lift & Transport Technician to manage the movement of Falcon 9 stages and associated ground support equipment. You'll perform preventative maintenance and utilize heavy machinery to ensure safe transport operations at Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Who you are

You have experience in operating heavy machinery, including forklifts and cranes, and understand the importance of safety and efficiency in transport operations. You are detail-oriented and capable of evaluating in-transit risks, providing on-site solutions to ensure the safe movement of flight hardware. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with a team of technicians and engineers to maintain high-quality standards in all transport activities. Your ability to organize and maintain tools and equipment is essential for the role, ensuring that all necessary resources are readily available for operations.

Desirable

Experience with preventative maintenance on mobile cranes and associated ground support equipment is a plus. Familiarity with route surveys and logistics planning will enhance your effectiveness in this role. You are adaptable and can work multiple shifts, demonstrating your commitment to supporting SpaceX's mission.

What you'll do

As a Critical Lift & Transport Technician, you will be responsible for the movement of Falcon 9 stages, payloads, and Dragon capsules across Vandenberg Space Force Base and Long Beach. You will perform preventative maintenance on mobile cranes and other heavy machinery, ensuring they are in optimal working condition for transport tasks. Your role will involve evaluating in-transit risks and developing solutions to mitigate these risks, including planning safe routes and coordinating with escorts as needed. You will also pack and organize shipping fixtures and associated hardware for cross-country transport, ensuring that all items are securely prepared for return to their respective shipping sites.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will develop and document work instructions in collaboration with the management team, ensuring that all processes for packaging flight hardware and equipment are efficient and effective. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you conduct route surveys prior to scheduled hardware moves, ensuring that all logistics are accounted for and that safety protocols are followed.
