SpaceX is hiring a Senior Propulsion Fluids Analyst to work on Raptor Engine Systems. You'll perform fluids, CFD, and thermal analysis to support engine development. This role requires 5+ years of experience in relevant engineering disciplines.
You have a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and over 5 years of professional experience in fluids, CFD, and thermal analysis. Your hands-on approach to model validation and verification ensures that model predictions are closely tied to reality and test data. You are proactive in anticipating necessary analyses throughout engine component design cycles, and you have a strong understanding of the complexities involved in propulsion systems.
Your experience includes working with commercially available CFD programs, where you have set up, executed, and post-processed simulations. You are familiar with geometry, mesh generation, and model selection, and you have run steady-state and transient CFD simulations using ideal and real-fluid equations of state. Your background also includes experience with reacting flows and combustion modeling, which is essential for the role.
You possess the ability to create watertight parasolids for CFD using Siemens NX, and you are well-versed in using CFD tools such as StarCCM+ and ANSYS CFX. Your analytical skills are complemented by your ability to collaborate effectively with propulsion engineers on various engine development programs.
A Master’s degree in an engineering discipline is preferred, as it would enhance your understanding of advanced propulsion systems. Experience with flight hardware development and testing would also be beneficial, as it aligns with the responsibilities of the role.
In this role, you will work closely with propulsion engineers on various engine development programs, performing fluids, CFD, and thermal analysis to drive design decisions. Your analyses will provide verification that reliability and performance requirements are met, ensuring that the Raptor engine systems are optimized for performance.
You will take a practical, hands-on approach to model validation and verification, ensuring that your analyses are grounded in real-world test data. Your involvement will extend to the organization and improvement of integrated system models, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the propulsion systems.
As you engage in the development and testing of flight hardware, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all aspects of the propulsion systems are thoroughly analyzed and validated. Your insights will be crucial in making informed design decisions that impact the future of space exploration.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to making space travel accessible and sustainable. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional growth and development.
