Who you are

You have over 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, specifically in data center design and operations. Your background includes a deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural (MEPS) infrastructure, which is critical for ensuring the reliability of data centers. You are skilled in collaborating with various stakeholders, including business development teams and external vendors, to assess and select colocation facilities that meet business requirements. You thrive in environments where you can influence standards and improve processes, showcasing your leadership abilities.

You possess a strong analytical mindset, allowing you to identify and resolve operational and design deficiencies that could impact a site's capability or availability. Your experience includes working directly with internal business teams and colocation vendors, ensuring that all aspects of data center design align with operational goals. You are passionate about making a significant impact in the field of data center engineering and are eager to take on new challenges.

Desirable

Experience with AWS infrastructure and services is a plus, as it aligns with the company's focus on cloud solutions. Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in data center design will further enhance your ability to contribute effectively in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the design and engineering efforts for AWS data centers, focusing on colocation facilities across the AMER region. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all designs meet the necessary operational standards and business requirements. Your responsibilities will include assessing existing facilities, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions that enhance operational efficiency.

You will work closely with design engineers and data center operations professionals to develop and refine design standards for data center products. Your role will involve guiding the direction of the colocation data center portfolio on a global scale, ensuring that all facilities are equipped to handle the growing demands of AWS customers.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to influence the development of processes that improve the overall performance of data centers. This includes documenting and resolving any operational deficiencies that may arise, working directly with internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless operations.

You will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative environment where innovative ideas can flourish. Your leadership will be crucial in driving the success of the data center engineering team and ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
