Overview

Amazon is hiring a Senior Area Manager for their logistics operations in Osaka. You'll oversee production and operational planning, manage teams, and drive process improvements. This role requires strong project management and people management skills.

Who you are

You have over 5 years of experience in operations management, particularly in logistics or manufacturing environments. Your background includes developing and managing production and operational plans, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently. You possess strong leadership skills, having managed multiple teams and projects simultaneously, and you are adept at fostering a collaborative work environment. Your analytical skills allow you to track performance metrics and implement improvements effectively. You are fluent in Japanese at a business level, enabling you to communicate effectively with your team and stakeholders.

Desirable

Experience with methodologies such as 5S, QC circles, or Six Sigma is a plus, as is familiarity with the latest technologies in logistics and supply chain management. You have a proven track record of leading projects that enhance productivity and efficiency in operations.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for the overall production and operational planning of the delivery station in Osaka. You will collaborate with various departments to forecast monthly volumes and create weekly operational plans. Your leadership will guide area managers in scheduling shifts and managing workforce needs, ensuring that the station meets its productivity targets. You will also spearhead improvement projects, leveraging new technologies and process reviews to enhance operational efficiency. Regular meetings with station and operations managers will be part of your routine, where you will facilitate discussions on performance and improvement initiatives.

You will address any operational issues that arise, such as developing recovery plans for equipment failures to minimize disruptions. Your role will also involve reporting on performance metrics and facilitating meetings to discuss operational strategies and improvements. You will work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, and may occasionally need to adjust your schedule for night shifts based on operational demands.
